Bill,

Another note on reuse of old bottles comes from the Mexican town of Tecate,
Baja California. About 20 years ago, I joined an expedition down to Baja to
visit prehistoric rock art murals. We stopped in Tecate for beer and bread. I
bought the beer in a liquor store that specialized in cheap rice "ricia"
(whisky). The whole rack of whisky bottles was a sight to see, for every
conceivable clear glass bottle was reused to bottle the ricia. I saw soda pop
bottles, wine bottles, vodka bottles, food bottles, mason jars, chlorox
bottles, and olive jars sealed with wax. The price ranged from $0.13 to $1.00
American. Naturally, we picked up a dozen or so for the trip. It made great
cleaning fluid.
