There are a number of study collections in Virginia. These include Colonial
Williamsburg, The College of William & Mary (both in Williamsburg), and
Virginia Dept. of Historic Resources (Richmond). williamsburg also has a
decorative arts museum. I have never been to it, but understand Winterthur
has a good collection.
