CALL FOR PAPERS
The Society for Phytolith Research (SPR) intends to sponsor a session at the
1999 Annual Meeting of the Society for American Archaeology to be held in
Chicago, Illinois. The proposed theme for this year's session will be:
Applications of Phytolith Analysis to Historical Archaeology
Historical archaeologists work on a broad range of sites, preserved on
land
and underwater. For instance, more and more cultural resources management
projects involve urban and industrial settings as the world's cities
undergo
urban renewal and continued development. Abstracts may be written from a
theoretical historical archaeology perspective (e.g., addressing the
potential
role(s) of phytolith analysis in historical archaeology) and/or a phytolith
analysis perspective (e.g, dealing with specific examples of the
application
of the methods to historical archaeology). Abstracts should be sent on
official SAA forms to the following by August 1, 1998 (contact the SAA
office
in Washington, D.C. for forms):
