                        RESEARCH  ARCHAEOLOGIST
 
The University of West Florida is seeking a Research Archaeologist (Research
Associate) for the Archaeology Institute (Department of Sociology and
Anthropology).  This is a full time, non-tenured, permanent faculty position
with a salary range of $32,000-$37,000.  Duties include conducting
prehistoric and historic period archaeological research in cooperation with
existing staff of four archaeologists, obtaining and directing research
grants and contracts, managing UWF's archaeological data base and GIS files,
and teaching archaeology courses.  Qualifications include a graduate degree
in Anthropology, Archaeology, or History; minimum of 7 years experience
supervising prehistoric and historic archaeological fieldwork, obtaining and
managing funded research projects, and preparing research reports.
Teaching, data base management, and GIS experience are also required.

                        CONSERVATOR/NAUTICAL ARCHAEOLOGIST
 
 
The University of West Florida is seeking a Conservator/Nautical
Archaeologist (Research Associate) for the Archaeology Institute (Department
of Sociology and Anthropology).  This is a full time, non-tenured, permanent
faculty position with a salary range of $32,000-$37,000.  Duties include
developing an artifact conservation laboratory, directing nautical
archaeological research  in cooperation with existing staff of four
archaeologists, obtaining and directing research grants and contracts, and
teaching undergraduate and graduate archaeology courses.  Qualifications
include a graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or History; with a
Ph.D. preferred; formal training ibn artifact conservation; a range of field
experience on terrestrial and underwater sites; and experience conserving a
variety of material types.  Teaching experience is desirable.  Application

                        NAUTICAL ARCHAEOLOGIST
 
 
The University of West Florida is seeking a Nautical Archaeologist (Research
Associate) for the Archaeology Institute (Department of Sociology and
Anthropology).  This is a part time (25%), non-tenured, permanent faculty
position with a full-time salary range of $28,000-$32,000.  An additional
75% of the appointment may be obtained from research grants and contracts.
Duties include conducting maritime archaeological research in cooperation
with existing staff of four archaeologists, obtaining and directing
underwater research grants and contracts, and working with students and
volunteers.  Qualifications include a graduate degree in Anthropology,
Archaeology, or History; a range of supervisory experience on nautical
archaeological sites; and extensive diving experience.  Teaching experience
