Hi Paolo;I have been in the bee business for only five years and have
wintered my hives with and without insulation.Both work fine depending
on where your hives are located.I do use a plywood box filled with
3"shavings when wintering nucs.I simply set it on top of my regular hive
and fill it up with shavings.But insulation or not if the bees have
enough winter food they will do fine.Try and keep them in a location
where there out of the wind.Paul.
