Fort Michilimackinac, Mackinaw City, Michigan, originally established by the French in 1715, is almost entirely built in the poteaux-en-terre style. For more information see Donald Heldman's entry for Colonial Michilimackinac in Buildings of Michigan by Kathryn Eckert (1993), pp. 416-417.
