In France, the difference between historic and prehistoric archaeology
appears in the fact their contexts are differents. Unlike prehistoric
context, the historic context is enriched with written documents.
Therefore, our historical research will allow us to compare archaeological
finds with contemporaneous written documents. The perception scales in time
and space are different too. For exemple, limited stratigraphies are
explored, in relation with craft industry, well documented, or with
cultural occupations well marked out and defined by material and written
data.
