I mistakenly posted this reaction to the speech of Representative Mr. Smith
of New Hampshire, a former high school coach and history teacher, because it
was an empty House of Representatives that he delivered it to and I felt in
the interest of information should be known to people who may have done work
in Panama, as a query for information. Many firms, such as those in NJ cannot
sell property until it has been cleaned up and US military bases are many
times dirty. I thought there may be legislation to stop the transfer until
recording and cleanup was done. I for one don't think the lowest bidder
should be running the Canal, whether they're Chinese Communists or not, and I
believe if Ruben Blades had been elected President of Panama, this would not
be happening on Dec. 10, 1999, that is the lowball bidder, China, running the
Canal. I for one am sick of lowball bidding in archaeology and the subsequent
write-off of resources based on "lack of evidence" without appropriate effort
demonstrated.
