I asked this question a while back- sent it in to the question and answer
column of one of the bee magazines. I was told that the manufacturer
recommends keeping the extras in the original foil packet, and storing in a
cool place.  (Freezing is not necessary.)  So I would surmise wrapping in
foil is best, if the packet is severely damaged.
