Hi all,
in response to the question on the use of Echinacea in bf. It is fine for
occassional use as a treatment for an oncoming cold or flu. I don't
recommend its use daily as a preventative as the immune system can become
dependent on the external stimuli. Also, please note that Echinacea
Angustifolia is a much stronger variety of the plant (best case using the
root) rather than Echinacea Purpurea. Check your labels carefully, and
make sure that you're not getting charged for Angustifolia and buying
Purpurea. Additionally, for your information, if baby is coming down with
a cold, a couple of drops of Echinacea tincture can be applied directly to
the breast and baby can get a dose while feeding. It's a great way to
administer the doseage without stressing out the child.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Wishing you health and wellness!
