Hello All
Thank you sincerely for all of the posts I received under the above subject.
I must confess that I am a bit confused about Frow mixture.
To take two comments as an illustration of this.
>Incidentally, Yates and Yates, in their book "Beekeeping Study Notes"

>examinations, give a detailed description of the formulation and

>nitrobenzene can be obtained in the UK!!
>Here in England it is a very old treatment long since declared an illegal
>substance that is being introduced into the hive, Highly dangerous to use
>so proceed with caution some of the ingredients are carcinogens and others
>highly inflammable. Can cause damage to humans by inhalation. Definitely
>not to be recommended.
On balance I feel that Frow mixture is to be avoided, especially in view of
its carcinogenic properties - properties which probably could not have been
known during its heyday, years ago.
The comments on methylsalicylate were on the whole good, and menthol was
also given a good press.
I suppose I am back again at, (IMO) the traditional learning curve in
beekeeping (or for that matter any other activity).

For what it is worth, I will learn about and use Grease patties next year to
try to stop the mite before it gets started.
Once again thanks to all.
