Our hospital proudly started their new infant protection program this
last week. It involves the use of a small radio transmitter device that
is attached to the baby via the cord clamp. Any baby going outside the
bounds of the LDRPs, ob ward or nursery will set off a loud alarm. The
only exits from the protected area must go past another nursing station
after the alarm goes off and prior to anyone being able to reach an
outside entrance.
Pretty nifty, until some over worked nurse forgets to take the cord
clamp off before discharging the family into the loving care of the
volunteers who escort them to their cars.
Can't let that concern be used as an argument of any force. Now all we
have to do is combat all the other anti-Baby Friendly garbage from
Chicago!
