I stand corrected in my fouling of this thread.  As an historical
archaeologist trained in anthropology, I of all people, more clearly should
have read the original posts  Apparently, my mind was on other matters, and
I missed the emphasis of both John McCarthy's and Mary Beaudry's messages.
The subsequent messages have pointed out to me very clearly that I
apparently read the original messages wrong.  A reread this morning, and a
clearer head, indicate the need for an apology to the List.  Therefore, I
sincerely apologize to any of you who may have been offended by the tone or
suggestion in my January 19, 2001 post.

Pardon me?  What do you think of as "real" historical archaeology
research topics?  Are we not all engaged in the common project of
