        Apparently, MW, has a strong program in historic preservation, as I
have met at least one graduate from the program who works in Charleston,
SC.  I have often found that looking at what previous graduates of a
program are doing is a good indicator of what "real jobs" are out there.
Of course, some get jobs like sailing instructors, so they have obviously
opted out of the field.  Perhaps you could get your professors to provide
you with some contacts to former students who are still in the field and
willing to discuss their experiences in the job market to you. Good luck
