This painting and its excavator were discussed in an article in last
year's Archaeology of Eastern North America. My copy of this journal
is at home, but maybe someone on the list has the complete citation.

Rich Veit, I seem to remember hearing that the Montroville Wilson painting
was this huge thing painted on canvas and was carried across the nation in a
type of "snake oil" show and unrolled in front of audiences of paid ticket
holders. Is this true, or is this just mis-remembered folklore?
