I am involved in preparing a Conservation Plan for Newport Railway
Workshops, in Melbourne, Australia. It is commonly held that the design of
the original buildings erected from 1885 was based on the
"Nine Elms depot of the London and South Western Co".
Being curious I am wondering what this depot was like. I imagine that
someone may have researched the building (or even made a OO P4 scale model
of it!) but I am not sure whether there is an easy way to find out whether
there has been any work done on the site. I checked the index of Industrial
Archaeological Review but nothing is there. Perhaps the world expert on Nine
Elms is on the list? Does anyone have any good ideas about where to look?
