Witch bottles under the doorsill were a widespread custom, not confined to
English nations. A bellarmine was found under a doorsill in Iceland, with
the usual bits inside.

At the Bloomsbury site in Delaware, we found blue beads in plowzone units
that approximately coincide with the four corners of the house, which had
no footing. We have interpreted this as a charm on the corners.
