Hi. I'm new to Lactnet and so far have learned alot from the posts. I am
a maternal-child nurse, CCE, and breastfeeding counselor (my favorite). In
childbirth classes tonight (breastfeeding class), I had a client ask about
breastfeeding with fibroids. She is unable to wear a bra most of the time,
due to the position of one large lump. She has mamograms often (once a
year). Possible family history of breast cancer?? She asked if there was
any reason not to nurse or anything unusual to expect?? He doctor found a
new lump just after she became pregnant and does not want to investigate
until after birth. From what I have researched and from checking the
archieves, I see no reason for her not to bf. She told me that she would
love to bf for at least 18 months! :) Any suggestions or comments I could
pass on to her? Thanks so much!
