Earlier in the season I believe in the inner cover section of Bee Culture
some discussion was made about spring and summer being compressed into one
month with all the trees and flowers here and gone.
Right now in CT it looks as if sumac is allready done and along the
roadsides goldenrod is in bloom as well as some aster.
Where ever the bees are currently foraging the nectar coming back is light
green in color I have yet to identify the source but perhaps a mixture of
sumac and purple loosestrife.
I wonder what will be left in the fall to fatten up the brood boxes but I
think I am the answer- good thing sugar is currently pretty cheap.
