Hello Histarchers,
I'm finishing an article concerning the African Diaspora in Latin America.
Thus far, most sources I've reviewed concern the archaeology of Brazilian
maroons (Orser, Guimares, Allen), Dominican slavery and maroons (De soto;
Vega; Garcia Arevalo), and Florida free blacks and maroons (Deagan;
Griffin; Poe). I also read Smith's (1995) work on slave potters at Puerto
Real. Could you guys let me know of any sources or projects I may have
left out? I have also heard from a couple colleagues of coffee plantation
archaeology in Cuba. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get a response
to enqiries I made to Cuban Archaeologists.
Thanks in advance to any suggestions,
Terrance Weik
