The Public Archaeology Laboratory, Inc., a private, non-profit cultural
resource management and historic preservation planning consulting firm, is
seeking to fill the permanent, full-time position of Laboratory Supervisor.
This position pays competitively and includes a full benefits package.
The Laboratory Supervisor manages all aspects of laboratory activities,
including cultural material and flotation processing, archaeobotanical
analyses, faunal analyses, collections management and curation and
coordination of all consultant services. The Laboratory Supervisor
supports PAL Inc. projects through research and analyses of cultural
materials. In addition, the Laboratory Supervisor maintains reference and
type collections, and cataloguing databases, as well as supervising a
three to four person laboratory staff.
Qualified applicants must possess: a graduate degree in Anthropology or
Archaeology; three to five years of experience managing an archaeological
or curation facility; demonstrated knowledge of regional prehistoric and
historic material culture; experience with archaeological collections
management and curation; excellent organization and communication skills;
proficiency with archaeological cataloguing and data analyses programs;
and the ability to supervise and communicate with staff.
