William Biers "Art, Artefacts, and Chronology in Classical Archaeology"
Rouledge, 1992.
 
(It's a little book that's easy to read -- which I appreciated.)
 
Also, check out:
Thomas Patterson "Toward a Social History of Archaeology in the United
States" Harcourt, Brace, 1995.
 
(He has an interesting discussion of recent trends in Classical
Archaeology. Of course, this is the same guy who wrote that "James Deetz
argues that the subject matter of Historical Archaeology is the archaeology
of white settler-colonists" (1995:117) . . . !!!
