I'm looking for information on "starred costrels", as illustrated in
Noel Hume's MARTIN'S HUNDRED p.52 #3-12 and Hurst's POTTERY PRODUCED
AND TRADED IN NORTH-WEST EUROPE p.63-64 #28.75. In my opinion, these
were disposable bottles shipped empty for retailing wine or olive oil.
 
These vessels are found on most Virginia sites dating between 1620 and
1640, at St. Mary's City, and on some English sites (although I don't
have a list of latter and would like one). They appear to be Iberian
but to my knowledge have only been recorded in these three places.
 
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's found these pots.
