Dear All,
re the presence of milk way past weaning, I have a close friend who was
able to express milky fluid for all the post-pubescent years *Prior* to
conceiving or bearing children. She had a tingling feeling during
sexual contact and often "spurted from her nipples". (Most embaressing
and only disclosed late one night after a few 'ports')
Gave birth to first child at 38yrs old, and had wonderful 2 yr plus, no
problems, breastfeeding relationship. 2 years post-weaning and is
still able to express 'thick-yellowish fluid'.
The NMAA Lactation Resource Centre has a wonderful Case History of a Mum
concerned about seemingly spontanious relactation, many months after
weaning. It turned out that relactation was caused by the loving
attention of her Partner! Stimulation, other than expressing, may be
worth considering.
On the other side of the coin, I do like to relate this anecdote to
mothers who are ringing for counselling when considering relactating.
If a Mum can relactate without even trying, let alone, even wanting to,
then there is real hope for a determined and knowledgable mother to
relactate given the opportunity.
