Dear List -

I am in search of someone interested in the archaeology of the Pennsylvania
Germans. More specifically, someone, probably an undergraduate senior or
M.A. student, who would be interested in analyzing and writing up the
results of three seasons of excavation at the site of a log structure known
as the Schubert-Graber site located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania near
Emmaus. The work was done jointly by the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society
(which owns the site), Chapter 14 of the Society for Pennsylvania
Archaeology, and Kutztown University. It was undertaken in advance of
attempts to stabilize the building.

Historical research suggests occupation at this site beginning in the
mid-eighteenth century. Archaeological materials appear to date back at
least to late in that century, and indicate a variety of uses including
residential, light industrial, and agricultural.

As both the instructor of the archaeological field class and President of
Chapter 14, I want to ensure that this material receives due attention.
Anyone who would like further information can contact me off-list.
