Dear Luc:
Thank you for your message which I am sure all of us over
here on the other side of the Atlantic found very interesting. Archaeology
(including Historical Archaeology) seems to be doing so well around the
world but in every area there are severe problems of support and routes
to enter the field.

We on HISTCH are mostly in Historical Archaeology meaning the
Post-Mediveal Period (after AD 1400 or, in the New World 1500, up to the
present); however, Medieval Archaeology is clearly closely tied into our
interests.

If it is financially possible you should consider joining
both the:
                SOCIETY FOR HISTORICAL ARCHAEOLOGY
                HTTP://WWW.SHA.ORG

                Address: PO Box 30446
                          Tucson, AZ 85751-0446 USA

                Student Membership = $40

SHA would love to have you and any of your fellow students in France as
members. The SHA has about 2,000 members most of whom are in North America
but we do hav members on all continents. Within North America we have a
very solid contingent in Quebec where we recently held on annual meeting.

                Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology
                http://www.britarch.ac.uk/spma/index.html

Address: Mike Eddy 37 Poet's Walk, Walmer Deal
                         Kent CT14 7QD United Kingdom

Student Membership = L 10 (pounds) or $20 US dollars

Although the SPMA is smaller than the SHA they have several hundred members,
are growing in size and would, I am sure, like to add student members from
France.

Hope you, and any others reading this message in Europe, will be
able to join the SHA.
