New South Associates needs help identifying two glass vessels. Please
visit our site and tell us what you think.
The bottles are hand blown in aqua glass, square at the bottom and round at
the top. They are 5 1/4 inches high and 2 1/2 inches wide. A scanned
image of one of these vessels can befound at New South's website, http://
www.newsouthassoc.com. The one not scanned is quite a bit more irregular
than the scanned one.
We need to know the function and relative age of these vessels, as well as
references for these vessels. It has been suggested that they are jars,
with some sort of disc closure, perhaps initially sealed with wax. The
other suggestion is that they are tumblers.
Please contact Susan Travis at [log in to unmask] if you have any
ideas. Thanks.
