I don't know much about the dig at the Virginia State Penitentiary here in
Richmond, but I have seen some great pictures. The penitentiary was
designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe and built in 1797-1800.
I had figured that since we seem to have a number of VA archaeologists
lurking about here someone who knows more would have spoken up, but alas, no.
I know that reports for it should be on file at the Virginia Department of
