Julia,

There is a small interpretive publication on the Rose Hill Cemetery at
Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve which was written by Traci Gibbons
and published by the East Bay Regional Park District. The cemetary was
active from the 1860s - 1900s and is rather striking. The booklet briefly
discusses symbolic motifs in the gravestones there and includes
photographs of several stones. If you have trouble finding a copy I'll be
happy to loan you mine.
