Hi
At Freedman's Cemetery in Dallas (1869-1907), we had several
exhumations. It was very clear that the lids had been opened and the
individual removed. The burials dated to the end of the
cemetery's use, which coincided with the opening of a new cemetery
across town. Also, we have at least one burial record that states
that the individual is in Freedman's, when their headstone at least is in
the other cemetery.
I'd love to hear more about the cemetery your working on. Are you
getting any coffin hardware? or safety pins (a pet project)?
