i'm slated to participate in a round table
discussion of "professional organizations" at the eaa conference in sweden on
the 24th, and i was hoping i could maybe get some comments re overall
effectiveness of groups like the acra (and how would you even judge their
effectiveness?)
also, if you were going to start something like the acra all over again,
from scratch,
knowing what you do now about what does and doesn't work, how would you change
it? what would you do differently?
in particular, how would you approach:
standards for archaeologists and their work
standards for the employment of archaeologists
        professional training for archaeologists
promoting professional ethics and influencing the policy makers

many thanks in advance
