Thanks to those who have already responded to my late Friday inquiry
regarding the "slate construction document"; there are some good
suggestions and I hope that a few more may come in later.
Later today I am going to try to get a digital image of the
piece and see if it can be posted on a web site or linked in some other
manner so that those who are interested can view it. Carl Steen has
suggested some interesting possibilities: tally sheet for bricks in the
wall, loads of building materials, powder weights, distances, angles,
etc. As far as I can see now, it might fit some of these, but one
problem in identifying the piece is that it is apparently only a
relatively small part of the original and I'm not sure that I will be
able to confirm whether it fits any of the suggestions made so far.
