How about a reconstructed heiau structure and associated buildings at
Kamakahonu/Ahuena Heiau in Kona, Hawaii?

Anita:
By copy of this reply, I have posted your question on the archeology
and historic structures bulletin boards for the National Park Service.
I have worked for NPS for 22 years as a historical archeologist, and
have been involved in a wide number of rehabilitation and (yes, dare
we admit it?) reconstruction projects for the service. In all cases
that I can think of, we have reconstructed on site when we have broken
our own guidelines and done reconstructions at all.
I'm sure other NPS folks out there know if we have ever reconstructed
off the original site. If any of you know of an instance, could you
please reply to Anita at the e-mail address in her original query, and
copy me in your reply?
Thanks!
Cathy

Can anyone give me examples (or sources to check) of reconstructed
buildings that were not built on their original site, or moved a few feet
off of their original footprint? I am especially interested in buildings in
state or national parks. Thanks!
