Elk Ridge Furnace was located in Howard County, erected in 1756 at Elkridge
Landing on the south side of Patapsco River it was known as Dorsey's iron
works, operated by Caleb and Edward Dorsey. The site is located very near
the BWI airport in the southern suburbs of Baltimore. This should not be
confused with Elk Forge, which was a totally different site. The Maryland
Historical Society in Baltimore should be able to help.
