We have been mandated by North Central to have Classroom Assesment Techniques
in place by the end of this year by every teacher and by every discipline in
at least one multi-sectioned course.
We have chosen IntroCultAnth for our course. We are discussing two
possibilities: (1) a pre and post test in Cult Anth to be given in every
section and then analyzing the changes or (2) Showing a short film at the
beginning of the quarter and another one at the end and measuring
ethnocentric attitudes through a short paper.
I would like to do CAT using journaling which is fairly successful in my
archaeology courses.
We (Lesli Beltran, Ellen C. K. Johnson, and I) would any help you can offer.
Have you done CAT? What works in Anth? Have you done either (1) or (2) in
CultAnth? Can you recommend any standarized CultAnth tests which would work
with multiple texts? Can you recommend any specific films for (2)? Can you
help with Journaling.
Thanks for your help
