You should probably look at Irene Stitt 1974_Japanese Ceramics of the Last
100 Years_, Crown Publishers, and Nancy Schiffer 1986_Japanese Porcelain
1800-1950_Schiffer Publishing.  Both volumes contain further references, but
are not as helpful providing specific dates.  As for dates, Costello and
Maniery point out that "Made in Japan" marks predate 1921, the date given by
many ceramic marks books.  The 1921 date indicates the end of "Nippon" per
U.S. requirements, not a starting date for the "Japan" mark which is
probably closer to the McKinley Tariff Act date of 1891.
