To whoever sought information under the subject "archaeology of crisis", I
had intended forwarding the following comment, but unfortunately your email
was inadvertently deleted before I got round to responding.
If I recall correctly you wanted information about stories of survival/the
archaeology of crisis. The classic example from this neck of the woods
concerns the various groups of castaways, survivors from the eight ships
which smacked up on the inhospitable shores of the sub-Antarctic Auckland
Islands between 1864 and 1907. The accounts of these wrecks and the
desperate battles the survivors fought to stay alive represent some of the
most epic sagas of the sailing era, a testimony to human fortitude and
ingenuity in the face of almost overwhelming deprivation.
If you pick up on this response, if you want further information, references
etc, please get back to me.
Cheers
