Mark,
About your observation...
I am a freshman who's one main goal in life is to become a
classical archaeologist. My interest is Minoan and pre-Minoan Thera (
The name of the island you couldn't think of ). I would have,
possibly, never known about Thera if it had not been for a
sensationalistic T.V. show called LOST CIVILIZATIONS. The eruption of
Thera was not something that was taught in my school. After hearing
about it I desired to learn more about the eruption and it's effects
on surrounding civilizations. That episode ( at the risk of sounding
mello dramatic ) changed my life. I can directly link it to why I
decided to obtain my G.E.D. and go on to college. My point is that no
matter how the information is presented ( fact or fiction ) if you can
capture the imagination or interest of just one person, it can make a
difference.
Thank you,
Melinda D. Estridge

If anyone can direct me to information related to classical
archaeology or more specifically Thera ( Santorini ) I would
appreciate it. Thank you.
