>Aren't licorice or anise related to fennel? They certainly have similar
tastes. Maybe they share some properties as well. Chanita
Hi all!
Just wanted to respond to this post about licorice, anise and fennel.
Anise and Fennel are quite similar, properties for both are stimulant,
carminative, antispasmodic and expectorant as well as both being excellent
galactagogues.
Licorice, however is quite different, it is a natural source of cortisone,
making it good for some forms of pain. It also treats stomach and
digestive disorders, sore throat and lung dryness. However, caution must
be exercised in its use as it is contraindicated with individuals with a
tendency toward fluid retention and in patients with high blood pressure.
Hope you find this information useful.
Wishing you health and wellness!
