If you are referring to making two hives from one big one, I have done that
with a Master Beekeeper of 26 years here in WV 2 months ago. We took 2
telescoping covers, grabbed the deep bodies (ensure you have the queen or
not! If not, intorduce one after split) and moved them to new Illinois with
clean comb. We got 5 new hives this way and ordered only 4 queens, one hive
created their new queen. I am an ameteur, but Bill sure knows what he is
doing!
