Eve Stenning

Dear Eve,

Yes, I must admit that many Europeans are against or slow toward the
Internet and related technology. Perhaps it is the Europeans in Australia
that are more open to trying new technology. Anyway, I think it is
marvellous that at a flick of the switch one can be in the USA, Europe,
Asia anywhere. I belong to a listserve relating to the Netherlands - so get
all the latest news every day. Also discovered distant relatives all over
the globe. Yesterday I met Eve Stenning again!!!

The HISTARCH listserve is great. I took part in the privy pit debate too,
side-tracking the debate regarding old forms of toilet paper because that
determines how fast a pit will fill up. It's such a good way to catch up
with the latest information and also contibute. I know more about what is
going on overseas than what is happening in Sydney.

You should be able to see the pictures on my web site. You may have the
illustrations option switch off?? Can you get illustrations on other sites
that you visit? Some people switch off 'illustrations' so that web pages
load faster.
The illustrations on my page are very 'heavy' and take a while to load -
that was the only way to have good quality pictures for people that are
really interested. There is a button, if pressed, will not show pictures
until they are fully loaded on your computer - which means that you might
have to wait three minutes befopre a picture would emerge.

Boring technical stuff. I learned very gradually how to get things done.
One gets there in time, with some perspiration and tears. The secret is
that you only have to learn as much as you need to, to get the results you
want.

Retired! You sound very busy for someone that's retired. I loved the
'selling rubbish at graduations'. I still do snail mail letters also -
mainly to favourite relatives. I'm sure that you will like HISTARCH - give
it a while though. I've been on for a few months and have only seen notes
from four others from Australia.

Great to hear from you,

Love

 Robert
