Hi Everyone,
I live in Pendeen in Corwall on the Lands End Peninsula in the UK.A poster
has appeared on the window of our village post office informing people that
they have to destroy five different species of plants if they are found
growing on there land. This is because of the Weed Act - actually I thought
that this had been superceded by other legislation. The serious part of the
poster is that it says that children will die if they eat honey made from
ragwort. This poster was put up by a local nutter and is not
official. However people read it and believe it.I imagine our local honey
producers are going to be hit by this.
I have little knowledge of honey production and have joined this list in an
attempt to stop this rumour quickly.I would appreciate any information that
you have about the dangers to health by honey obtained from poisoned
plants.I realise that the ragwort story is untrue but I'd like some
proffessional back-up,
Thanks,
Vincent Smith.
