Here in Australia I have heard anecdotal stories of bees becoming confused
when placed under high voltage power lines.  There are stories of a drop
off in numbers in the hives.  The theory is that as bees often use the earth's
magnetic field to navigate, then the magnetic fields produced by the power
lines causes the confusion.
