INDUSTRIAL AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN ARCHAEOLOGY
IN ARROW ROCK, MISSOURI

Description:  The 1999 field season will continue the excavations conducted
over the past three summers in Arrow Rock to explore Missouri's industrial
and African-American heritage.  Previous excavations have concentrated on a
pottery factory (1854-1870) including a kiln and multiple workshops, and an
African-American community including a Masonic Lodge, a restaurant/bar, an
A.M.E. Church, an Odd Fellows Lodge, a schoolhouse, and multiple residences
dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. For more information
