CALL FOR PAPERS OR REGISTRATION OF INTEREST
The 1997 ASHA (AUSTRALASIAN SOCIETY FOR HISTORICAL ARCHAEOLOGY) conference
will be held in the South Island resort town- Queenstown (lakeside, skiing,
bungey jumping etc)- over October 3-6 1997. The conference venue is the
Quality Resort Terraces Hotel. Accommodation is available there- $120.00NZ
per night share twin, or at a wide range of nearby accommodations ranging
from backpackers to camping grounds, bed and breakfasts to 5 star hotels.
Offers of papers are sought on any aspect of historical archaeology-
research and management issues with relevance to Australasia, or a wider
global perspective.
The conference includes a one day fieldtrip to look at historic mining sites
in the picturesque Shotover Valley. In addition "small group" pre or post
conference fieldtrips are being arranged to enable any conference
participants to check out specific sites of interest to them while they are
in New Zealand.
