We had an office fire a few years ago and most of our papers were completely
soaked by the sprinkler system. The fire insurance company came in, took the
water-logged files (including original final reports, artwork, and other
things too precious to lose) and had them freeze dried. When they were
returned we were able to copy the originals (carefully) before discarding them
and they turned out great.
I suggest you contact a local fire insurance firm and see where they take wet
papers that need to be preserved for drying out.
