The excavation of an 18th century shipwreck off the North Carolina
coast drew near a close Tuesday and researchers remained confident it
was the flagship of the notorious English pirate Blackbeard. "We're
95 percent sure. That's up from 90 percent," project field director
Mark Wilde-Ramsing said late Monday. Underwater archaeologists
expected to complete by the end of the week a month-long search
designed to determine whether the wreck, found last November in
shallow water off Beaufort Inlet, is Queen Anne's Revenge, which sank
