"Linkage," in economic history, is a linear relationship one industry =
has with another.  Take lumber milling, for instance.  A saw mill or =
planing mill may be a component of this industry.  A reverse linkage, =
therefore, will be logging or tree farming.  A forward linkage may be =
furniture making or construction.
