A historian colleague of mine (Joel Tarr at Carnegie Mellon University) is working on some research involving horses in the urban environment. He is interested in rendering plants from the perspective that they contributed toward the disposal of dead equines in cities.

I am interested in rendering plants because of their linkage with the meat industry. Has anyone out there tested/excavated a rendering plant (especially one in an urban environment)?

Thanks, in advance, for the help!

David Rotenstein
