Now that the sources for dealing with the condom as an artifact have =
been given, there is a good article in Judith McGaw's book, Early =
American Technology: Making and Doing Things from the Colonial Era to =
1850 (1994) on early contraceptive technology that is a good contextual =
overview.  The citation is:
